Training

  • There will be no training on Monday the 8th of March 2010 due to the Labour Day Holiday.

Melbourne University Water Polo Club trains every Monday night at the South Yarra Sports Centre, 679 Chapel Street, South Yarra. This centre has an eight lane, 25 metre, swimming pool that has a constant depth of 2.2 metres, making it ideal for water polo training. In addition to the Monday evening skills training sessions, MUPolo also holds swimming sessions at the Beaurepaire Centre (Melbourne University Parkville Campus) on Wednesday and friday evenings.

In 2010 MUPolo will be running a split training session on Monday evenings for its members:
- MUPolo Women’s teams will be training from 7:30pm to 8:45pm
- MUPolo Men’s teams will be training from 8:30pm to 10:00pm.

Training usually consists of 20 minutes of swimming, with varying levels of difficulty, followed by ball drills and usually some games to finish off. All new members are encouraged to turn up to a training session, regardless of ability. Training sessions cater for differing standards, from beginners up to State League 1 and Australian University Games representatives.

Additional Swimming sessions will be held during 2010 at the University of Melbournes swimming pool (Beaurepaire Centre) on:
- Tuesday evenings from 6:00pm to 7:30pm; and
- Wednesday evenings from 6:00pm to 7:30pm.
