After all of the men’s pool matches, the men’s team progressed straight into the semi-finals after finishing top of our pool with a strong goal aggregate. As we were in the top four, our opponents were extremely strong, leading to the MUPolo AUG men’s team narrowly losing to University of Queensland in the semi finals and University of South Australia in the bronze medal match. This left the MUPolo AUG men’s team to finish fourth overall. A great performance from the MUPolo AUG men’s team placing them the top Victorian University Water Polo Team and fourth Australian University Water Polo Team.

The first day of competition saw the Women’s team play two matches, the first Macquarie University, in which our women’s team played strongly, defeating Macquarie 12 – 4. The Women’s second game, against fellow victorians La Trobe Uni showed how strong the women’s team were with an amazing win, 20 – 1. On the second day of the women’s competition our MUPolo AUG women’s team played the University of Western Australia in their first match narrowly being defeated 6 – 13. The women’s forth match for the tournament proved to be a little easier against the University of Queensland, with the final score being 10 – 6, MUPolo victorious of course. On the third day of competition our women’s team had the day off so they came along and supported our men’s team. After all of the women’s pool matches, the MUPolo AUG women’s team finished second in their pool, enabling them to play off for a position in the bronze medal match. Their first repechage match was against Newcastle University in which our girls won a close match, 7 – 6. This put our Women’s team straight into the semi finals, where they played the gold medal favourites, University of Sydney. Our girls lost however they were now in the bronze medal match, the highest they have finished in many years. In the Bronze medal match our girls performed strongly narrowly being defeated by a strong University of Western Australia team. An over all great performance with the MUPolo AUG women’s team being placed the top Victorian Water Polo Team and fourth Australian University Water Polo Team, the same as our men’s team.
