Australian University Games Pot and Parma Night 2005
A new tradition was created at MUPolo on Friday the 9th of September 2005. The inaugural “AUG Pot and Parma” night, taking place at the lovely establishment known as The Clare Castle Hotel in Carlton. It involved all the team members of the Australian University Games men’s and women’s team coming together to enjoy large amounts of beer and oversized chicken parma’s.
Friday night and the good folk of the Clare Castle were bracing themselves for an onslaught the likes of which they had never seen. The early signs showed no indication of what was to come. Two portly middle aged men strolled in, in their suits, but they were soon joined by a marauding group of youthful drunks. As the kitchen battled to produce thirty Parmigiana, the bar tenders heaved and wheezed under the strain of the demand for amber fluid.
Obviously this venue had no idea of the preparations required for a Mupolo function, something highlighted by their minimal supply of jugs and the poor quality of Parmigiana. Nevertheless as is the way of the Mupolo brigade, we carried on, through fire, rain, pool games and rampant cheating at pool games. Whilst the jugs ran low, the MUPoloers came up with a solution, to slow the drinking and give the bar a chance to recover we played coins, however the whole thing lost its way as rather then the usual one coin skipping across the table into glasses, hundreds of shiny pennies flew as if raining from heaven, splashing their way into all and sundry’s drinks, whether involved in the game or not.

Eventually the Clare Castle could take no more, so onwards and upwards stumbled the MUPolo revelry, we carried on our drunken rampage until none were left standing. Suffice it to say training for AUG was exemplary and a fantastic performance is expected as a result. Freshers beware, whilst a good performance was provided…there is much worse to come…mwa mwa mwa
